HIC-ZJU and Zhijiang Silicone Launch Joint Lab for New Materials Innovation
ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center (HIC-ZJU) has partnered with Hangzhou Zhijiang Silicone Chemical Co., Ltd. to launch a joint laboratory focused on advanced adhesives and sealants for industrial electronics.
Established in January 2023, the lab aims to integrate scientific research with industrial needs, fostering innovation in new materials and cultivating top talent. By August 2023, the facility was operational at HIC-ZJU Xinxigang Campus.
The lab recently achieved a breakthrough by incorporating woven polymers into epoxy resin, significantly improving toughness and durability. This technology is set for industrial application by Zhijiang Silicone, with potential uses in aerospace, electronic packaging, and energy storage.
Beyond technical R&D, the lab supports talent development and is committed to low-pollution, cost-effective adhesive solutions. Chairman HE Yongfu of Zhijiang Silicone praised the collaboration’s role in driving the company’s technological advancement.
The partnership exemplifies HIC-ZJU’s broader efforts to merge innovation with industry, promoting the transformation of research into real-world applications and supporting sustainable growth.
