Dwight, a Belgian software engineer, has begun a technical internship at the Zhejiang University–Hangzhou International Innovation Center (HIC-ZJU), marking a step forward in EU–China talent mobility through project-based collaboration.

The programme builds on the momentum of the 50th anniversary of EU–China diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of Zhejiang Province’s partnership with Belgium’s West Flanders region, reflecting a shift toward more substantive, innovation-driven cooperation.
At HIC-ZJU, Dwight is working with SciPilots, an AI-focused start-up incubated within HIC-ZJU, contributing to software architecture optimization and industrial system integration. His structured, analytical approach has been well received by the team.
He highlighted HIC-ZJU’s integrated R&D model, which combines academic research with real-world application, enabling rapid prototyping through interdisciplinary collaboration across fields such as AI, materials science, and life sciences.

Dwight is expected to return in September for a second phase, as HIC-ZJU advances collaboration with Belgian partners to develop joint innovation platforms and strengthen cross-border innovation exchange.
