从事基因组学、系统发育与进化生物学，重点关注真核生物起源、细胞器起源与功能演化等课题，利用大规模组学分析，挖掘基因、复合体、基因组在原核和真核生物的多样性及进化渊源。目前已发表SCI论文十多篇，以一作（含共一）和通讯作者在Nature Communications、The Crop Journal、BMC Biology、Plant Journal、Frontiers in Plant Science等多个国际知名期刊发文。
